Authorship Criteria

Authorship eligibility, author responsibilities, and publication ethics at Jurnal Pendidikan UNIGA.

Jurnal Pendidikan UNIGA is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects the contributions and responsibilities of individuals involved in scholarly research and manuscript preparation. All authors must meet the journal's authorship criteria and agree to take responsibility for the integrity of the work.

1. Authorship Criteria

To qualify as an author of a manuscript submitted to Jurnal Pendidikan UNIGA, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:

1. Substantial Scholarly Contribution

The individual has made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, the development of the research methodology, data collection, data analysis, or interpretation of the findings.

2. Writing or Critical Revision

The individual has participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

3. Final Approval

The individual has reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.

4. Accountability

The individual agrees to be accountable for their contribution and to cooperate in resolving questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, or ethical conduct of the work.

All four criteria must be met. Individuals who have made a substantial contribution should be given a reasonable opportunity to participate in manuscript preparation or critical revision and final approval before authorship is determined.

2. Contributions That Do Not Independently Qualify for Authorship

The following contributions, when provided alone and without meeting the authorship criteria above, do not qualify an individual for authorship:

  • Providing funding or financial support only.
  • Holding a senior academic, administrative, or institutional position.
  • Providing general supervision or administrative assistance only.
  • Collecting data or providing technical assistance without substantial intellectual contribution to the research and manuscript.
  • Providing language editing, proofreading, or other writing assistance without meeting the authorship criteria.

Individuals who have contributed to the work but do not qualify as authors may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, with their permission and an accurate description of their contribution.

3. Unacceptable Authorship Practices

Jurnal Pendidikan UNIGA does not accept the following practices:

  • Gift or honorary authorship: listing an individual who has not met the authorship criteria, including solely because of their position, seniority, or authority.
  • Ghost authorship: excluding an individual who has made a qualifying contribution or concealing substantial writing or research assistance.
  • Misrepresentation of contributions: providing inaccurate information about the roles or contributions of listed authors.
  • Unauthorized authorship changes: adding, removing, or reordering authors without the agreement of all affected authors and editorial approval.

4. Author Order

The order of authors should be agreed upon by all authors before submission and should reflect their collective agreement regarding contributions to the research and manuscript. Jurnal Pendidikan UNIGA does not impose a universal author-ordering system. All authors are responsible for ensuring that the agreed order is accurate and acceptable to everyone listed.

5. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the editorial office. The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Submitting the manuscript and providing accurate information about all authors.
  • Confirming that all listed authors meet the authorship criteria.
  • Ensuring that all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted version.
  • Confirming that all authors agree to the submission and the author order.
  • Communicating editorial decisions, revision requests, and publication updates to co-authors.
  • Helping the editorial office obtain responses and clarifications from co-authors when necessary.

Designation as corresponding author does not exempt any author from responsibility for the integrity of the work.

6. Author Contributions Statement

Authors are encouraged to provide a clear statement describing each author's contribution to the research and manuscript. Contributions may include conceptualization, methodology, data collection, formal analysis, investigation, writing the original draft, writing review and editing, supervision, and project administration, as applicable.

All contribution statements must be accurate and agreed upon by the authors. The journal may request clarification when the stated contributions are unclear or raise authorship concerns.

7. Changes to Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be submitted in writing to the editorial office, with a clear explanation of the reason for the change and written agreement from all affected authors, including any author being added or removed.

The editorial team will assess the request before making any change to the manuscript record. The journal may suspend editorial processing while the request is being considered. Authorship changes after publication will be considered only through an appropriate formal correction process where justified.

8. Authorship Disputes

If a disagreement arises regarding authorship eligibility, author order, or individual contributions, the journal will request clarification and encourage the parties to resolve the issue through a documented agreement. The journal may suspend the editorial process while the dispute remains unresolved and may refer the matter to the relevant institution or another appropriate authority when necessary.

The journal will not arbitrarily determine individual research contributions where the facts cannot be established. Editorial action will be based on available evidence, documented agreements, and the journal's publication ethics policies.

9. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of scholarly work. Authors remain fully responsible for all content in their manuscripts.

Any use of AI tools in manuscript preparation, data analysis, image generation, or other research activities must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's Artificial Intelligence Policy. AI use must not be used to fabricate data, misrepresent sources, or conceal the origin of research content.

10. Declaration by Authors

By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Pendidikan UNIGA, the corresponding author confirms that the authorship information is accurate, all listed authors have approved the submission, and the author order has been agreed upon by all authors. The journal may request further confirmation or documentation if necessary.
