Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

General Provisions

1. The submission is an original work, free from any plagiarism, and less than 25% checked by Internet-based plagiarism detection service.
2. The submission has not been published and has not been accepted for publication in other journals.
3. The submission is typed in 2 spaces using quarto paper (A4); fonts of Arial Nova size 12; and the right of 2 cm, left of 2 cm , top of 2.5 cm , bottom margins of 2 cm.
4. The submission is typed with one column layout.
5. The submission is written in English or Indonesian in accordance with general guidelines.
6. The submission must be approved by all co-authors and relevant authorities (e.g. institution or sponsor).
7. Please download the template to make your article match our guidelines.
8. The article does not exceed 4,500 words, including references (excluding the tables, figures, and appendix).
9. The file size should not exceed 7 MB (.docx).

Systematic Writing of Original Article

Title

1. The title must be straightforward and informative, also specific and effective.
2. The author’s name (without an academic degree) is accompanied by affiliation, must include name, department, faculty, institutions, ZIP Code, city, and country.
3. The corresponding author’s details are written on the footer of the page, including name without salutation or academic degree, department, faculty, institutions, address (the street name, city, ZIP Code and country), and email.

Abstract

1. The abstract is written in English and Indonesian.
2. The abstract consists of 150–250 words that explain the objectives, brief methods, significant findings, and there should not be any references.
3. Keywords are written in English, 3–5 keywords or phrases, arranged alphabetically, and separated using coma (,) for author template.
4. Please do not use terminologies that are too general, wordy, and lengthy.
5. Kindly prevent words that are already used in the title.

Introduction

1. Background of study. In strengthening the background of the study or activity, authors are required to add empirical backgrounds and conceptual frameworks/backgrounds that are constructed from reviews of relevant previous studies which are published no later than 5 years.
2. Provide a short review of the pertinent literature, state the originality of the research, and state the research objectives.
3. Covers the factual and actual problems, challenges, or requirements needed by the community-related to the research purposes.
4. Authors are required to justify the form of the participation and interaction of the communities in the program and activities of the community engagement.

Methods

1. Describing the method used to solve problems, challenges, or problems, answer the research objectives.
2. Data collection techniques (including sample selection techniques, validity, and reliability of data collection tools).
3. Data analysis technique.
4. Location, time, and duration of activities.
5. Authors are required to justify the condition/situation before the programs/activities are implemented and the expected result.

Result and Discussion

Relevant documentation with a focus on community empowerment activities.

1. For photos/images: the minimum resolution is 300 dpi with JPEG extensions (.jpg). Use image processing software to check dpi.
2. Results must be presented correctly and accompanied by an explanation without reference to the literature. Original and important findings must be stated. Results must be illustrated with numbers or tables if necessary, but must be kept to a minimum. Detailed discussion, speculation, and interpretation of data are not included in the results, but in the discussion section.
3. Authors are required to emphasize the analysis of the condition before and after the programs/activities of community engagement are implemented.
4. The discussion must interpret the findings expressed in the results obtained with the background of existing knowledge. The discussion must highlight a new perspective. Each assumption must be clearly stated.
5. The analysis should be completed with a further discussion on the participation of the community as well as the impacts that are gained by the community. It will be good additional content if the Authors also include the adoption of innovation by the community.
6. All tables, figures, photo, and graphs included in this manuscript have to be cited and integrated with analysis and/or its justification/significance with the programs/activities of the community engagement. All tables, figures, photo, and graphs should be relevant with the study.

Conclusion

1. Provide conclusions of the discussion.
2. Mention the impact and benefits of community empowerment activities.
3. Provide advice for further community empowerment.
4. Produce new findings of theories, postulates, formulas, principles, methods, models, or prototypes supported by research data.

Acknowledgment

1. The acknowledgment list consists of people who provided assistance during community empowerment activities.
2. Declaration of Conflict of Interest must be clearly written when you (or your company or sponsor) have a financial, commercial, legal, or professional relationship with another organization, or with people who work with them, which contributed to your research.
3. If funding was given through grants from universities, colleges, or other research institutions, stated the name of the institution or organization that provided the funds.
4. If there are no funders from a university, college, or other research institution, please include the following sentence: This study did not receive specific grants from funding agencies in the public sector, commercial, or non-profit section.

References

1. References are written based on APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition format.
2. References are listed alphabetically.
3. References only list literature that you have quoted in the text.
4. Check details of references to actual sources. The author is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the references.
5. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
6. Avoid using more than 40 and less than 10 references. Highly recommend using 70% journal references and 30% book references. Journal references should be published at least 5 recent years.
7. Authors are strongly urged to use a reference manager such as Zotero, Endnote, RefWorks, Reference Manager, or Mendeley to build their bibliography.

Ethical Code and Regulation

1. Authors are required to ensure that all community engagement activities/programs written in this manuscript are free from any matter related/relevant to ethical code and regulation.
2. Authors also need to obtain consent from the participating communities in including/presenting any figures, photos, data, or other information that support the community engagement programs/activities in the manuscript.
3. After receiving an acceptance letter, the corresponding Author is required to sign and submit an Ethical Clearance Letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief according to the template provided in the Jurnal Nuraga OJS.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
2. The article must be accompanied by a cover letter that contains the reason for the article to be published in the Journal of Community Engagement, what is already known from the topic discussed, what advantages are added to the article, and the author's statement that the article was written is really the result of original work and does not contain elements of plagiarism.
3. The article is submitted in softcopy using the Microsoft Word application (.docsx)

Copyright Notice

The author whose manuscript is published agrees to the following conditions:

1. The right to publish all journal manuscripts published on the Indonesian Journal of Community Engagement E-Journal website held by the editorial board with the author's acknowledgment (moral rights remain with the author of the script).
2. The formal legal provisions for access to digital electronic journal articles are subject to the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license, which means that the Indonesian Journal of Community Engagement has the right to save, transfer/format, manage in the form of a database, maintaining, and publishing articles without asking permission from the author as long as the author's name remains as the copyright owner.
3. Manuscripts published in print and electronically are open access for the purposes of education, research, and libraries. Apart from these purposes, the editorial board is not responsible for violations of copyright law.
