Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Small Sided Game training method on improving passing accuracy and passing speed among U-17 soccer players. The research employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pre-test and post-test experimental design. The participants consisted of 20 U-17 soccer players selected through purposive sampling. The training program was conducted for six weeks with three sessions per week. The research instruments included the Passing Accuracy Test to assess passing accuracy and the Wall Passing Test to measure passing speed. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, paired sample t-test, and effect size analysis. The findings revealed a substantial improvement in players' passing performance following the Small Sided Game training program. The mean passing accuracy score increased from 4.85 to 7.55. The paired sample t-test indicated a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores, demonstrating that the Small Sided Game training method effectively improved players' passing ability. Furthermore, the calculated effect size indicated a very large practical effect. Therefore, Small Sided Game training is recommended as an effective training strategy for improving passing accuracy and passing speed among U-17 soccer players.
