Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the effect of target-game training on futsal shooting accuracy among extracurricular students at SMK YP Gajah Mada Palembang.

Materials and Methods: A quantitative pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was used. The analyzed sample consisted of 23 students who participated in futsal extracurricular activities. Shooting accuracy was measured before and after the intervention using a target-based Bobby Charlton shooting test. The intervention consisted of 16 structured target-game training meetings designed to develop concentration, shooting direction, ball contact control, and target accuracy. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, and a paired-samples t-test with a significance level of 0.05.

Results: The mean shooting accuracy score increased from 82.61 +/- 31.22 in the pretest to 115.65 +/- 37.40 in the posttest. The mean improvement was 33.04 points, equivalent to approximately 40.00%. The paired-samples t-test showed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, t(22) = -3.902, p = 0.001, with a moderate-to-large practical effect (dz = 0.81).

Conclusions: Target-game training significantly improved futsal shooting accuracy among extracurricular students. The findings suggest that target-based, game-oriented shooting activities can be used as a practical training strategy to improve accuracy, concentration, and shooting execution in school futsal programs.
