Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) learning model on students' soccer passing skills. The research was motivated by students' low soccer passing skills in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning and their lack of student activity due to the use of conventional learning methods. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Pretest-Posttest Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study sample consisted of an experimental group treated using the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) learning model and a control group treated with conventional learning. The research instrument was the Loughborough Soccer Passing Test (LSPT) for soccer passing. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired samples t-tests, and independent samples t-tests. The results showed that the average score of the experimental group increased from 47.90 to 75.40, while the control group increased from 47.70 to 66.65. The results of the Paired Samples t-Test showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) < 0.001, while the Independent Samples t-Test showed a significance value of 0.005 (< 0.05). Thus, the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) learning model was proven to be more effective in improving students' soccer passing skills compared to conventional learning.
