Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of proprioceptive exercise on improving balance and preventing ankle injuries during the execution of the Dolke Chagi kick among Taekwondo athletes at Persada Karawang Taekwondo Club. The study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 athletes selected through purposive sampling based on predetermined criteria. The Standing Stork Test was used to measure balance and ankle stability. The results showed that the mean balance score of the left leg increased from 4.650 to 19.835, while the right leg increased from 5.283 to 26.188 after the implementation of proprioceptive exercises. The normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed (p < 0.05), therefore further analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The Wilcoxon test results revealed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of proprioceptive exercise on improving athletes' balance. Therefore, proprioceptive exercise is considered an effective training method for enhancing balance and ankle stability, thereby helping to reduce the risk of ankle injuries during the execution of the Dolke Chagi kick in Taekwondo athletes.
