Upper Body Muscle Endurance Levels Among Middle School Volleyball Players

Upper body muscle endurance is an important physical component in volleyball because athletes repeatedly perform movements such as serving, passing, blocking, and spiking during training and competition. This study aimed to determine the level of upper body muscle endurance among middle school volleyball players. A quantitative descriptive research design was employed to obtain an objective profile of athletes’ muscular endurance. The participants consisted of 20 middle school volleyball players who actively participated in regular volleyball training programs. A total sampling technique was applied to involve all eligible participants in the study. Upper body muscle endurance was assessed using the push-up test, which evaluates the ability of the upper body muscles to sustain repeated contractions over time. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, and category classifications. The findings revealed that 15 athletes (75%) were categorized as Good, while 5 athletes (25%) achieved the Excellent category. No participants were classified as Average, Poor, or Very Poor. These findings indicate that the athletes generally demonstrated favorable upper body muscular endurance, enabling them to maintain repeated volleyball-specific movements effectively. This study concludes that middle school volleyball players demonstrate promising upper body muscle endurance and provides baseline information for coaches and teachers to design evidence-based training programs.
