THE PRINCIPAL’S LEADERSHIP STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION SERVICES UNDER THE MERDEKA CURRICULUM AT RIZQULLAH ECE

Abstract

This study aims todescribe the leadership strategies employed by the headteacher to improve the quality of early childhood education services under the Merdeka Curriculum at PAUD Rizqullah. This study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive methods. The subjects of the study consisted of the headteacher, teachers, and educational staff. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and was then analysed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the headteacher implements participatory, transformational, and adaptive leadership strategies. These strategies are realised through needs-based programme planning, teacher development via supervision and training, strengthening cooperation with parents and the community, and the creation of a child-friendly learning environment. The headteacher’s leadership has a positive impact on enhancing teachers’ professionalism, fostering child-centred learning, increasing parental involvement, and developing a collaborative work culture within the school environment.
