Simulasi dan Hiperrealitas Perempuan Dalam Game The Sims

Studi ini meneliti praktik simulasi dan hiperrealitas yang dialami para pemain game  The Sims 4 yang memberikan perspektif pengalaman perempuan dalam bermain game. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk dapat menggali praktik simulasi dan hiperrealitas yang dialami perempuan dalam bermain game The Sims 4. Teknologi komputasi membawa pada bentuk hiburan baru yang menawarkan game sebagai media hiburan bagi masyarakat. The Sims 4 sebagai salah satu game menawarkan game simulasi kehidupan nyata dengan keunggulan visual dan interaktif, serta memberikan kebebasan kepada pemain untuk menetapkan tujuan game. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat nilai-nilai yang tidak bisa dilepaskan dari kehidupan nyata yang turut dimasukkan dan dimodifikasi dalam game. Simulasi dilakukan secara sadar oleh pemain, mulai dari penetapan bentuk tubuh avatar, karakter/ sifat, dan kemampuan yang dimiliki dengan modifikasi sesuai harapan pemain. Hiperrealitas dialami saat pemain dapat mencapai tujuan hidup yang belum tercapai di dunia nyata dan berusaha mencapainya secara virtual. Kesenangan, kenikmatan, dan kepuasan dalam bermain game muncul karena dukungan dari sifat game yang kuat dalam ‘interactive storytelling’. Peneliti menerapkan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data wawancara semi-terstruktur kepada tiga informan perempuan yang aktif bermain game The Sims 4. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa game dengan sifat interactive storytelling dan dukungan teknologi komputasi mumpuni memperkuat praktek simulasi dan hiperrealitas.
